María Martinón Torres, Director of CENIEH (National Research Centre on Human Evolution)
María Martinón Torres, Director of CENIEH (National Research Centre on Human Evolution) and Honorary Reader at the Anthropology Department of UCL, has been a member of the Atapuerca Research Team since 1998 and Research Leader of the Dental Anthropology Group at CENIEH from 2007 to 2017. María is interested in hominin palaeobiology, palaeopathology and the evolution of the first Europeans. She has led projects on the study of hominin dental evidence and published more than 70 books, chapters or scientific articles in journals such as Nature, Science, PNAS and the Journal of Human Evolution. She has been highlighted as being in the top 1% of most cited authors in Social Sciences according to Thomson Reuters Essential Science Indicators.
