Jaguar

One of Rouch’s experiments with what he called ‘ethno-fiction’, or docu-drama, Jaguar tells the story of three young men from Niger travelling to Ghana in search of opportunities, exchanging the desert for tropical forest. After three months in Ghana they return home with presents for their kin and neighbours. The ‘plot’ of the film is thin, but the film never fails to engage audiences, largely because of the characters filmed and invented.
