Kusum

This luminous film should be of interest to all anthropologists – medical, social, visual / material, cognitive, even maybe migration… In a compelling narrative, a Delhi rickshaw driver seeks treatment for his sick young daughter, Kusum, and eventually takes her to a famous healing temple in Rajasthan where the charismatic healer diagnoses spirit possession. In vivid and sometimes unsettling scenes we see the healer trying to rid Kusum of her affliction.
