The Oracle of Maama Tseembu: Divination and Healing among the Yaka (1991, 50 mins. Directed by R. Devisch and D. Dumon). Ngoombu is one of the major posession and healing cults practiced among the Yaka in southwestern Congo. The diviner's oracle determines which cult one is to consult for various afflictions. Circumstances leading to the consultation of a Yaka diviner may be death, the abnormal duration of an illness, or the onset of aggravation of some state of affliction.
