My research focuses on older adult social care in the context of population ageing.
I am currently investigating the older adult loneliness epidemic in England and the NHS's proposed intervention, social prescription. This new project builds on my previous interests, including the politics of healthy ageing, community care in austerity, and the impact of ritual, story, and play on wellbeing.
For my doctoral research, I lived and worked in a Continuing Care Retirement Community for two years and examined the way in which older adults created meaning and formed new social relations at the end of their precarious lives.
Research interests: ageing; care; risk; population health; mental health; existential anthropology; applied anthropology.
