Ana Ranitovic is interested in ethnic identities and how these relate to other factors of social organization in the Western Balkans, such as kinship, political affiliation or regional identities. Other interests include studying the workings of history and memory - the relation of individual and collective acts of remembrance and interpretations of history and consequences of these on the perception of everyday life and political issues. Her regional focus is on the Western Balkans, particularly the border region of Southwest Serbia.
