Research: I am interested in the cultural evolution of rituals within the context of individual social learning processes as well as diffusion patterns on the population level. In order to investigate the conditions that mediate the transmission and innovation of ritualistic practices across time and space, I am employing a multi-methods approach including agent-based modelling, lab-based psychological experiments as well as analyses of data from the Seshat Global History Databank (http://seshatdatabank.info/). I am based at the Centre for the Study of Social Cohesion (https://www.cssc.ox.ac.uk/).
