Dr White holds the first tenured Professorship in the Cognitive Science of Religion in the United States. Her research focuses on using cognitive and evolutionary theories, methods, and findings (a) to explain how and why some representations are cross-culturally recurrent and (b) to understand how these representations impact human behavior and well-being. So far, her research has focused on the following topics: reincarnation, supernatural agents, funerary practices, end-of-life care, and grief.

Dr White is affiliated with The Ritual, Cohesion and Charisma Lab at the Centre for the Study of Social Cohesion (CSSC).
