Dr Winnie Musivo

Winnie Musivo is a Postdoctoral Researcher affiliated with the Institute of Science Innovation and Technology (InSIS) at the School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography (SAME), and the Oxford Net Zero (ONZ) program.

Her research focuses on potential futures of combining geothermal energy resources and Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) activities to understand potential trajectories, tensions and trade-offs alongside other sustainable development objectives, such as universal energy access and industrialisation.

She holds a PhD in Geography (Climate, Development and Energy Finance) from the University of Sheffield (2025), an MSc in Environmental Change and International Development (ECID) from the University of  Sheffield (2018) and a BSc in Geospatial Engineering from the University of Nairobi (2015).

Before joining the University of Oxford, she was a consultant at KawiSafi Ventures, leading quarterly and annual portfolio management (financial and impact) reporting to limited partners across more than ten companies. She was also a senior research associate at EED Advisory, where she led climate and energy research for institutions such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC), World Resources Institute (WRI), Energy for Growth Hub (EGH) and the African Development Bank (AfDB). She has also worked with government, academic and research institutions in Kenya and across Africa.
